Education and support group for children who have been impacted by domestic violence. Through discussions, art and creative play, children ages 5 and older explore a variety of issues. Childcare is provided for children under age 5. This group meets in conjunction with the Women’s Domestic Violence Group; women and children are provided a light meal before groups begin.
Children of all ages who have been impacted by domestic violence may attend with a female parent/caregiver.
Children who experience domestic violence directly or indirectly may be negatively impacted. These children may demonstrate guilt, depression, fear, aggressive behaviors, school disruptions, isolation or other concerning behaviors.
Children will learn about domestic violence, how to be safe, not to take on the responsibility of the behavior of others, and about self-care.
There is no cost to attend group. The meal and childcare are also provided at no cost to attendees. Transportation assistance is available.
Groups meet every Tuesday at Family Service Rochester at 6:15. Children are welcome any Tuesday, pre-registration is not required. For more information contact Family Service Rochester, 287-2010.
