Caregiver Connection Expo
The 2nd Annual Caregiver Connections Expo is an event organized by Family Service Rochester, Elder-Network, and the Rochester Salvation Army to offer help for the helpers. Come and learn from keynote speaker and Olmsted County Commissioner Sheila Kiscaden, with presentations by attorney Lisa Pluto, Olmsted County Veteran's Services officer Neal Doyle, and Father Joe Fogal of Pax Christi Church. Participate in a panel by Mayo Clinic Rochester Education & Advocacy for Community Health (REACH.See emcee Betsy Singer of media sponsor ABC 6 News-KAAL TV. Through speakers and over four dozen vendors, this event will provide area caregivers with resources and networking.

Meals on Wheels Survival Kits
Each spring and fall, Family Service Rochester distributes "Summer or Winter Survival Kits" to Meals on Wheels recipients. These kits contain a shelf stable meal, snacks, bottles of water, batteries, etc. to help with any extreme conditions the season may bring. We are currently collecting items for the Winter Survival kits. Donations can be dropped off at Family Service Rochester, below is a list of items needed:
- Bottles of Ensure (or similar brands)
- Bottles of water
- Pre-paid phones (for emergencies)
- Individually packaged shelf stable food items (granola bars, etc.)
- Crossword puzzles, etc.
2015 Once Upon A Playhouse
Family Service Rochester is partnering with the Rochester Area Builders to again showcase 4 unique playhouses at the Builders Home Show, February 13-15, 2014. Playhouses will again be raffled and winning tickets drawn on February 15th at 4:00pm (winner does not need to be present).
All funds support Family Service Rochester's work addressing family violence. More information can be found on www.onceuponaplayhouse.org
Family Service Rochester Wish List
Family Access Center
Toys and games are heavily used at the Family Access Center as children have visits with non-custodial parents / guardians. We constantly need to replace and update these items. The most needed right now are:
- Polly Pocket (individuals and sets)
- Littlest Pet Shop (individuals and sets)
- Outside toys (croquet, bocce ball, balls, chalk, bubbles, etc)
- Older Children games (battleship, apples to apples, etc)
- Clear plastic totes with latches
- Area play rugs with roads maps or train tracks
Family Service Rochester Kid's Room
The kids play room used during groups, counseling, and parenting courses. Items in needed include
- Family friendly DVD's
- CD player
- Comfortable kid's furniture (small pieces)
- Small plastic tubs to organize toys on shelves
- Toys (other than stuffed animals)
